 I want to use the midentify utility. I was led to believe it is a part of
 mplayer, but the mplayer and mplayer-devel ports do not install a program
 by that name.

 If midentify is part of the mplayer source, can the mplayer and/or
 mplayer-devel ports be changed to install it? If the sources are separate,
 can a new midentify port be created?
