 Not much wisdom -- just initialization for dbus

 Only need to do this once to get things going.  The message

 Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0"
 }}}
 Is normal and harmless (no support for extension RANDR on X server).

 Looks like you've made a lot of progress.
