 A simple sudo port install duplicity ?
 sudo port install gwyddion does the same (openssl is a dependency of
 both).

 This is a serious code error (maybe the archiver is expecting a different
 format for the library - a possible makefile issue). Please fix it. Since
 this is a showstopper, I think that the priority should be set to high, as
 it was initially.
