 I second the request.

 There have been Fink packages[http://www.ghz.cc/charles/fink/]. But I have
 given up on fink in general for being outdated.

 Trying to get gEDA [http://www.gpleda.org/sources.html] to build has been
 a nightmare so far (not helped that I am relative novice at this). As far
 as I can figure it's because it uses GTK+, which appears nontrivial.

 Have tried gtk-osx, but it's not quite working with gEDA.

 Alternatively someone has been trying to blaze a GTK2+ trail,
