 do we have a standardized name for this kind of variant?
 "with_default_names" is rather confusing, it should rather be named
 "no_gnu_names" or "with_conflicting_names" or "gnu_style"; for someone who
 has no idea of what a variant does "with_default_names" sounds much too
 optimistic imho... especially since using this variant can mess up the
 build process of other ports (not for gnutar as tar on OS X is gnutar, but
 for coreutils);
