 Thanks, I ran the following commands and it seems to work now:

 --->  Activating gtk2 @2.14.7_1+x11
 Error: port activate failed: Image error:
 /opt/local/include/gail-1.0/gail/gailwidget.h is being used by the active
 gail port.  Please deactivate this port first, or use the -f flag to force
 the activation.
 macpro:~ bijuchacko$ port installed gail
 The following ports are currently installed:
   gail @1.22.1_0 (active)
 macpro:~ bijuchacko$ sudo port deactivate gail
 --->  Deactivating gail
 macpro:~ bijuchacko$ sudo port activate gtk2 @2.14.7_1+x11
 --->  Activating gtk2 @2.14.7_1+x11
