updated, but it also updates your portindex - without mentioning that - to
get the latest portfile versions. You need to do this even when you re-
install MacPorts from scratch.
I am not sure that I can follow. Running with debug flag (sudo port -d
selfupdate) the output looks fine with respect to the manual:
