 Well, as far as I can see, your choices are more or less:[[BR]]
 a.) Edit the Portfile ({{{port edit gcc44}}}) prior to each upgrade[[BR]]
 b.) Specify the {{{configure.args}}} argument from the command line
 ({{{port install gcc configure.args="--languages=c,c++
 --libdir=/opt/local/lib/gcc44 --......."}}})[[BR]]
 c.) Wait patiently for each build[[BR]]
 d.) Hack {{{port(1)}}} to add some feature that solves this problem
