 despite what [46949] says, at least the darwin9 variant of dovecot can't
 use the kqueue ioloop because of http://lists.apple.com/archives/Darwin-
 userlevel/2008/Dec/msg00010.html

 I reproduce the problem easily with:

 {{{
 #!/bin/sh
 $ /opt/local/sbin/dovecot --exec-mail imap
 Fatal: kevent(EV_ADD, 0) failed: Operation not supported
 }}}

 Seeing the output there presumes you've got {{{log_path = /dev/stderr}}}
 in {{{dovecot.conf}}}.
