 The patch should update the following file:

 /opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/textproc/xercesc/Portfile

 Additionally download macsvn.diff and place it at.

 /opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/textproc/xercesc/files/macsvn.diff

 With those files I was able to clean xerces (to remove any previous build
 data) and install it. I had no messages about checksums. According to the
 Guide (http://guide.macports.org/#development.introduction) the checksum
 in the Portfile applies only to the xerces tarball. I don't know why it is
 complaining about a missing checksum. Are you sure your Portfile is still
 intact?
