 i have the same problem as guitman423

 i looked up the howto/PortTreeTarball but i'm can't manage to "Edit
 $prefix/etc/macports/sources.conf, comment out the rsync entry, and add a
 new entry as follows:
 #rsync://rsync.macports.org/release/ports/ [default]
 http://www.macports.org/files/ports.tar.gz [default]

 it seems i don't have the permissions to edit the files.

 what can i do ?
