 Still having same problem from my home system with firewall turned off,
 etc.  In the prescribed directory I found ''fontconfig-2.7.3.tar.gz''
 (attached).

 It seems to be improperly packed and errors from an untar:

 $ tar -zxvf  fontconfig-2.7.3.tar.gz
 tar: Unrecognized archive format: Inappropriate file type or format
 tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
