Comment:

 Note that the compiler on 10.6 builds 64bit by default, so make sure
 anything you have linking to tcmalloc is the same architecture as the
 library itself (use {{{file}}} or {{{lipo -info}}} on the executables and
 libraries to find out).

 I tried the newer version (1.4) but that fails to build on 10.6; not sure
 if that (or even your issue) is related to [http://code.google.com/p
 /google-perftools/issues/detail?id=66 issue 66].
