 curl builds for me on Snow Leopard. Could you please clean and try again
 with debug output?

 sudo port -d install curl build.jobs=1 2>&1 | tee ~/Desktop/curl.txt
 }}}

 Then attach curl.txt from your desktop to this ticket and I'll compare
 your output to mine.
