 They easily could be. The only step to do that is to re-enable the
 --multilib option in gcc43 or gcc44 port. Cf. #22116, and then applying
 the same method as above, that is writing a small shell script wrapper
 that transforms gfortran-mp-4.x -arch XXX in gfortran-mp-4.x -m[32|64]
 according to arch type, and declare this shell script as gfortran default
 compiler.
