Comment:

 > gperf (3.0.1 or a more recent version) -- required if you need to
 recreate oct-gperf.h from octave.gperf

 {{{oct-gperf.h}}} and {{{octave.gperf}}} are both part of the latest
 octave package.

 The TeX seems like it is related to texinfo instead, and doesn't seem to
 occur in a pristine macports install on snow leopard.

 Please reopen this issue with more details (list of installed ports maybe,
 or tests of a working texinfo with octave not getting it to work
 correctly) if I'm mistaken in closing it.
