 them (for mac ports noobs who are familiar with standard configure, make,
 make install techniques but not masters thereof)?

 I'd really appreciate it. Not being able to make it build is causing me a
 slow down. Barring that can you show me how I can pause a sudo port
 install command long enough to make the changes myself and then let it
 continue in a way that mac ports is happy?
