 Swig 1.3.40 supports cffi, but the port does not have a variant for it,
 and the +universal variant does not seem to do anything. Would it be
 possible to enable cffi support? Is it possible to enable support for the
 other languages swig supports but for which there are no port variants?

 The built-in OSX swig does support cffi, but the implementation is quite
 old.
