 Yes, you'll need to remove the old install first as per
 [wiki:FAQ#uninstall]. The error message in the installer is meant to tell
 you to install 1.7.1 first (which still had the code to migrate from the
 old DarwinPorts layout), but 1.8.0 is the first version to be compatible
 with Snow Leopard.
