 Looks like the problem here is actually that the expat library isn't
 "usable" - my guess would be that expat is built 32-bit and user has not
 followed the [wiki:Migration] instructions. AFAIK fontconfig does not
 require both expat and libxml2 - either will suffice, and we are choosing
 to have it use expat.
