 Maybe the addition of this line is all that is needed?
 --with-mysql-sock=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock \

 Though it does look like it is in there --with-mysql-
 sock=${prefix}/var/run/mysql5/mysqld.sock but it is in a variant section

 I am sure you understand how to solve this, and knowing it is on your
 radar is great.  If there is anything I can lookup or test, let me know.
