 Hum, this is a new bug.

 It seems that john.ini is not provided by the source package so we can
 ignore it ...

 I have posted a new patch : patch-john.diff and update Portfile-john.diff

 to make it work (cheers to logix at Freenode) without checksum control.

 Have you got a problem with checksum step ?
