 Strangely, the prebuilt inkscape from inkscape.org also hangs. The main
 difference is that this one uses up system time, not user time. I wonder
 if my problem is related to the X11 version I am running? XQuartz 2.4.0,
 xorg-server 1.5.3-apple14. I'll ask on the X11-users mailing list if
 anybody has a suggestion.
