 Funny that when I completely cleaned up macports and installed it again,
 the libiconv problem remained!

 But when I did the port clean --all libiconv, it solved the problem.

 The server used is:
 --->  Attempting to fetch libiconv-1.13.1.tar.gz from
 ftp://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/gnu/libiconv
