 Try launching without your .xinitrc and debug to figure out what the
 problem is.  This is the first of any such issue I've heard about.

 If your problem is in the 1.7.x server and fixed in 1.8.0, then this will
 be fixed "magically" when I update xorg-server to 1.8.1 when it is
 released next week.
