 I'm unable to reproduce this on a ppc Tiger machine. Looking at the code,
 there would have to be a bug in Tcl for this to happen, as the existence
 of ui_channels is explicitly checked before calling it. Have you changed
 Apple's stock Tcl installation in any way?
