 Oliver, I was able to install this port with a clean and up to date
 macports install.

 Please run:
 sudo port selfupdate
 sudo port upgrade outdated

 sudo port clean i386-elf-binutils
 sudo port -d install i386-elf-binutils

 Please post the output if your install fails.
