This also fails utilizing FINK - Why does this happen? Like MAC OSx stuff
is stable. Anything to do with Linux, BSD or otherwise opens Source is
just too many options and complex - Standards are necessary no matter what
 - please advise if you can - but I doubt it... Come on - can't install
even a simple browser or email program without catestrophic failure - no I
will not crash my MAC with any more attempts at running the X-11 apps
through the POSIX Darwin ports.... MAC does pretty much everything

Comment:

Apparently you had trouble connecting to all of the servers that provide
the zlib distfile. Please check your network settings, your proxy settings
(if you use a proxy you may need to set this up in macports.conf too), ask
 your network administrator, etc.

I'm sorry you've had difficulty but your rant is not appropriate here.

FYI, installing Firefox with MacPorts is a complex process (though you've
gotten hung up at pretty much the very first step). Downloading the pre-
compiled Mac OS X binary from the Firefox web site will be much simpler.

Note, we are called MacPorts; the name DarwinPorts was retired years ago.
