Comment:

 I found the problem.

 The dependency:

     port:texlive-latex-recommended

 needs to be added.

 In order to test this I completely uninstalled (and cleaned) both
 textlive* and dblatex.  Then I did an install of dblatex and let it
 install what it needed.
