New description:

 I typed in `$ sudo port install wine-devel` and after entering my password
 it said "`Computing dependencies for wine-devel`" for several minutes
 before displaying an error:
 {{{
 Error: Internal error: port lookup failed: too many nested evaluations
 (infinite loop?)
 Error: Status 1 encountered during processing.
 }}}
 I have xcode 3.2 and X11 installed and am running Mac OS 10.6.4. I can't
 figure out what is wrong.
