 Actually, I think my asking about expat is likely premature, since the
 only reason expat even seems to come up is through your links outside the
 macports tree.  What is the output of
 {{{
 port installed | grep perl
 }}}
 It seems to me that your "problem" is that you've somehow got files in a
 perl5.10 directory when they should be in a perl5.8 directory, which is
 where the system expects to find them.
