 Somehow #21341 changed from `gcc44 packaging` to `add graphite
 optimizations`. Not good for the ticket to creep like that.

 I'm opening this ticket to track merging the graphite-enabling patches
 into `gcc44`, `gcc45`, and `gcc46`.

 I've already committed and tested the `ppl` and `cloog-ppl` ports on which
 these patches depend. `ppl` needed light patching to work with `gmp5`.

 Note that I've only tested `gcc45` extensively, both with and without the
 new `graphite` variant.
