 I had to modify the Portfile at
 http://trac.macports.org/attachment/ticket/17049/Portfile to support the
 "macosx" variant. Once I did that, I was able to build pango 1.26.0 on
 Snow Leopard (10.6.4) and GTK2/Quartz applications displayed fonts
 properly. This is an important bug fix. Is there something holding up the
 new pango package?
