> Why did I make the change? In order to be able to check for whether or
not Qt4 was installed with +debug or not (among other items I needed to be
able to do), I had 2 primary options: (1) only non-frameworks; (2) only
frameworks. The former offers a few extra benefits when compared with the
latter, IMHO, and nobody objected to it, so I went with it. That decision
might be changed in the future, but for now I haven't heard a convincing
argument for or against one way or the other. Let me tell you up front
that this change (removing the framework option) didn't come lightly or
without much testing to make sure it would work. This change has been "in
the wild" for quite some time and you're the first to wonder about it -- I
know there are plenty of folks using MacPorts' Qt4 install, so I take it
that the change is working OK for almost everyone.
I'm sorry, but I still don't understand why "framework" option 'must be'
removed. You may leave that option who needs the framework version like
me.
