 To enable -O4 and -flto [http://llvm.org/docs/LinkTimeOptimization.html
 link time optimization] in clang and llvm-gcc we need a linker with
 support for llvm bitcode. Newer versions of the
 [http://opensource.apple.com/source/ld64/ ld64 linker] (>=v77) can be
 configured to include such support through libLTO.dylib. The recent
 release of [http://svn.macosforge.org/repository/odcctools/release/
 odcctools-20090808] comes bundled with ld64 v85. Updating the odcctools
 port would be very helpful, see #19679.
