Comment:

 The dbase extension was [http://www.php.net/manual/en/migration53.removed-
 extensions.php removed from php] in 5.3.0. It has allegedly been moved to
 PECL, but [http://pecl.php.net/package-search.php?pkg_name=dbase no
 release of it has appeared on PECL] yet. We could try to
 [http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=49138 build it from svn] directly.

 Note that variants are [ticket:19091 deliberately being removed from php5]
 and made into separate ports. So if this request will be fulfilled, it
 will be in the form of a new port php5-dbase, not a variant in the php5
 port.
