 I can confirm this issue on Leopard i386. (It builds fine on Snow Leopard
 x86_64.) We should apply the fix from upstream bugs
 [http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=50508 50508] and
 [http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=50541 50541].

 Those bugs say the problem affects 5.3.1 as well, but it does not appear
 to in MacPorts. Perhaps this is because 5.3 on MacPorts compiles far fewer
 built-in extensions than the 5.2 port does.
