 To clarify, the problem I experience is described in

 was filed as [https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-1231 ZBX-1231] which
 was marked as a duplicate of [https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-479
 ZBX-479] whose symptoms are quite different and described in
 [http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10509 this forum post] and
 which you already fixed in r41886. The patch in upstream !r8851 (`svn di
 -c 8851 svn://svn.zabbix.com`) doesn't seem to fix either problem for me
 but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

 An update to 1.8 would be good as soon as it is possible for PHP 5.3
 compatibility. 1.6.8 shows a bunch of errors with PHP 5.3.
