 What do we do in the meantime?  Live without the tools we need pango-devel
 to build with.

 Considering 1.26.2 Pango builds perfectly from source, I can't understand
 what is taking so long.
 Seems this issue has been going on for a long time.

 Either way, the details of that other bug differ from the details of mine
 enough to say my issue may be slightly different.
