 In my installation, the shasum of the /opt/local/bin/git binary (1238372
 bytes or 2419 512-byte blocks long) is
 df903d1522d3903a95dd12036fac82d9f6133e0a. That same file occurrs in no
 less than 214 places on disk after installation, only half of which are
 hardlinks (presumably the /opt/local/var/macports/software/git-
 core/1.7.1.1_0+doc+svn/opt/local mirror of the /opt/local tree), which
 seems like serious waste.

 Attaching the output of "shasum $(find /opt/local -type f -size 2419)" on
 my system, that lists all the culprits.
