 I'm sorry I omitted that, I'm testing on an iMac and a MacBookPro both
 running uptodate patched 10.6.4 with XCode 3.2.3.

 The strange thing is that I cannot reliably reproduce this once I have
 worked around this issue (which I have since I'm doing some more tests
 which result in other tickets currently ;-) )

 The only reliable way to reproduce is to uninstall macports, reinstall ist
 and install qca on a clean macports.

 What I did try was to manually run the command

 {{{
 mkdir -p /opt/local/share/qt4
 }}}

 when it's already there and it resulted in the same error message

 maybe a test -z could fix it either way?
