 plplot 5.9.6 was released June 5, 2010. The release contains, among other
 things, a fix for a bug that didn't allow creation of many plots (C++
 programs where affected,

 link to plplot issue tracker]). I am in the process of releasing a
 software dependent on the fix and are waiting for the plplot port to be
 updated to 5.9.6 before releasing my software.
