 The patches work fine for me. +1.

 I applied the openssl-1.0.0a.diff and sdk_cleanup.diff patched to the
 Portfile and copied patch-Makefile.org.diff to the files folder.

 The generated binaries work fine; however, I have not yet rebuild ports
 that depend on openssl.
