 While we could track down which ports provide the 'changebar.sty' and
 'html.sty' files for latex and make sane-backends depend on them, I think
 that approach would be overkill.  latex has its own sizeable set of
 dependencies and is only used to generate the sane.ps file, a document
 that is now over 4 years old and available on the web in other formats
 such as http://www.sane-project.org/html/

 Instead, I've developed a set of patches that remove the step to build
 sane.ps

 After applying these patches, I was once again able to build sane-backends
 cleanly on my system.
