New description:

 Discovered this while trying to port install bluefish.  I got this error,
 and then tried to port install gtk2 directly.  Still got this error.  I am
 running Tiger 10.4.  Using Xcode 2.5.  Here is the error:

 "building gtk2 failed"; please attach the log.
