Comment:

 After more testing and another bug report (#25433), what I can say is that
 this is a subtle issue that's at least partly due to upstream issues with
 the way 'qmake' works (going back a ways, and through 4.7.0b1).  I'm going
 to reopen this ticket and work on a quick fix (patching Makefile's with
 the flaw); a longer-term fix would come from upstream, so I'll look at the
 Qt tickets to see if this issue exists & if not add it.
