 Apologies for not having seen this problem. I have now fixed this problem
 by supplying a patch to the Makefile. Additionally, I have also fixed
 issues #23882 and #23883 by supplying an updated Portfile.

 To summarise:

 1. replace the Portfile of vantages with the Portfile attached here.
 2. delete the patch file "patch-destroot_variable_fix.diff"
 3. add the patch file "patch-makefile_fixes.diff"
