New description:

 When launching xdvi one gets the following messages:

   Referenced from: /opt/local/bin/xdvi-motif.bin
   Reason: image not found
 Trace/BPT trap

 The library libjpeg.7.dylib does not exist.  /opt/local/lib/ contains
 libjpeg.8.dylib, libjpeg.a and libjpeg.la as well as the symbolic link
 libjpeg.dylib pointing to libjpeg.8.dylib.

 I am running the latest 1.8.2 MacPorts with texlive_base 2007_7+motif on
 Mac OS X 10.6.2.
