Old description:

 Strange; leading up to the error, I see no differences between your output
 and mine (from a PowerPC Leopard machine) that seem relevant to me.

 I see this problem mentioned a few times before:

 2007 IRC log] (some troubleshooting steps are suggested but I don't see an
 indication of what, if anything, worked)
  * in an [http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-
 users/2007-October/006449.html October 2007 mailing list post] (no
 replies)
  * in a [http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-
 users/2009-November/017767.html November 2009 mailing list post] (cleaning
 and rebuilding fixed it)

 Maybe [ticket:24069 updating netpbm to 10.35.x] will finally fix the
 problem, or provide additional debugging information.
