 Trying to change options like binary/gray/color, resolutions, etc., in
 xsane results in a dialog box with {{{Failed to set value of option mode:
 invalid argument}}}'.

 Fortunately, the Debian people have a patch at hand, which is attached
 below.  I'm attaching also another patch that works around some runtime
 warnings regarding {{{gtk_adjustment_new()}}}.

 Since xsane has currently no maintainer I hereby volunteer as
 openmaintainer.
